The Gambling Commission of Gibraltar (GBGA) is an independent body that regulates and monitors the gambling industry in Gibraltar. The Commission was established by the House of Assembly on 14th June 2005, with a remit to regulate all forms of remote gambling (online) and land-based gaming activities in order to protect the public. The commission has been responsible for regulating online betting since 9 December 2006 when it took over responsibility from the Gaming Board, which had regulated such activity since 1997.
GBGA issues international gambling license. So to speak, an online casino that has successfully obtained the GBGA license can operate around the world.
However, due to the fact that Gibraltar is rather tough jurisdictions for gambling operators, not so many casinos prefer to get this license.
