Nearly two years ago, the Indian government announced that they would be updating their gambling laws. The announcement came after a number of states had taken steps to legalize online gambling in India. States like Sikkim and Andhra Pradesh have said that they will allow offshore websites to operate within their borders so long as those sites do not offer games of chance, such as poker or blackjack. Other states don't want anything to do with the legalization of online gambling whatsoever and are blocking all access from overseas companies looking for business there.

In reality, local players have no problems at all if they would like to gamble online. There is no punishments for such activities and all international online casino websites are easily accessed from India.
